According to the Oxford English Dictionary, 1510 is the year that the word "culture" began to be used to describe something other than agriculture - the arts, learning, a way of life. It's one of Erica's favorite dates, and serves as an inspiration for all the translation she does from Korean to English, work that builds bridges between cultures.
Erica has been involved in literary translation since 2014, and in translation for TV and film since 2019. She also provides consulting services to literary agents, publishing companies, and for TV/film in assessing the suitability of Korean books and media for English-speaking or Western audiences.
Erica is also a leader in the nonprofit field, having worked at the United Nations and community-based nonprofits around the world. In her spare time, she enjoys surfing, rock climbing, attending classical music performances, and playing with the family border collie.
